A key Boko Haram leader, Baana Fanay has been arrested on Sunday in N’djamena according to Chadian Public Prosecutor, Alghassim Khamis. He is said to have been arrested after a fierce resistance in company of two other terrorists. Banna Fanay was in charge of purchase and trafficking of weapons. He also recruited fighters in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad. A search in the suspect’s house led to the seizure of different weapons and documents written in Arabic by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau. A man said to be a financier of the group was also arrested. Such a good one.

Corps Member Gang Raped To Death In Ilorin, Kwara State

The suspected killer of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member,Yetunde Shukurat has been arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate’s court. The suspect,Abdullahi Tanko, was arraigned before a Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate K.A.Yahyah. The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Matthew Ologbon informed the Court on Monday that on May 23, 2015, at about 12pm ,the Police received a distress call that they should go to Simeon Okedi street in the GRA located at Upabiasika in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. Ologbon said that when the police got to the place, they found the late Corps member on the ground in a pool of her blood. He further told the Court that investigation by the Police revealed that Tanko and his collaborators, now at large, conspired to trick the deceased from her residence at Saw-Mill area to Shoprite area, where she was killed on that fateful day. According to him the suspected killer and his gang had raped the deceased inside their car, which caused her untimely death. He added that after they had raped the late Corps member at Tanko’s residence at Plot 6,Simion Okedi Upabi Asika junction GRA, they carried her dead body to nearby junction while her blood was still flowing along with them. He added that the Police located Tanko’s house through the blood traces of the deceased and the suspected killer was arrested. Beside, the Prosecutor told the Court that the mobile phone of the deceased, with mobile number- 08132188661,was found with Tanko at the time he was arrested at his place. He added that efforts were still ongoing to other suspects now at large. The Prosecutor urged the Court to remand the suspect in Prison custody until other suspects were arrested and completion of the Police investigation. The Presiding Magistrate, K.A Yahaya, ordered that the accused, Abdullahi Tanko, 51, be remanded in Mandala federal prison until the case will resume further hearing on August 10,2015.

The Oyo State Police Command yesterday paraded a gang of highly fetish 419 syndicate which specialised in defrauding unsuspecting citizens of huge sums of money. The police said they deceived their victims by claiming to cure their various ailments. The breakthrough was made by the Command’s anti-Kidnapping Squad who discovered the gang’s shrines at Baale-Ayo, Asejire and Balogun village off Eleyele/Ido road as well as two poultry farms each of which costs 50 million naira while the cummulative value of their illegal services is over 800 million naira. Oyo State Police Commissioner, Muhammed Katsina parading suspected fraudsters arrested yesterday in Ibadan. On display are their juju costumes which the Police discovered in the building that harbours their shrines. The suspects include Sherifat Badamosi, a female, 48 years who played the role of the witch, Samsondeen Abiola a male, 42 years, a photographer whose role was to lure rich victims to their trap, Oriyomi Adebayo a male, 41 years, who played the role of a spy, Alhaji Akeem Azeez Olayode, a male, 37 years, leader of the gang and Ayankule Ayanlowo a male, 43 years who played the role of a fake herbalist. According to Azeez Olayode, who admitted to be a ‘419’ said “I was a Fuji musician and my stage name is Santana, I was duped and those who duped me told me to become a fraudster in a bid to retrieve my money and that was how I started. I started 6 years ago, I don’t know those people we dupe personally, I am usually linked up when their is any job, they call on me. They call me when they have customers so that we can work together. I help them in blending leaves for concoction. When someone who has problem comes to the Babalawo for diabetes, stroke or other ailments, the man whom we work together has juju, he will cure the diabetes or any other ailment they bring, when the problem is cured, we ask the person to pay a certain amount. The Babalawo is not genuine, he is a fake Babalawo. I can say I have duped like 10 people, the first person paid 30 million naira to cure diabetes, he paid in batches like 5,7,8 million. Their was one that had injury in the leg which was not healing up and he paid 15 million naira”. Another suspect, Ayankunle Ayanlowo, who admitted to be a fake herbalist said, “I know how to make concoction, I get connected through Azeez Olayode to the clients and they pay me 500,000 naira per operation, I don’t have a car but I have a house”. For the photographer, Mr Samsondeen, ” I met Mr Olayode at Options, a club very close to officers mess, I am a photographer, I take photographs at options and that was how I got his contact. When his child was doing Islamic graduation I did three albums for him so I see him as a customer. When the Police came to my house that night, they asked if I was the photographer they called on phone and I was told to follow them. I move around, I don’t have a shop, I am even supposed to be in Ilorin presently” he said. Among the items recovered from the syndicate are three assorted cars, a toyota venza saloon car which costs 4.8 million naira, 4matic mercedes benz jeep which costs 6 million naira, honda crosstour saloon car which 3.5 million naira and assorted criminal charms. According to the Commissioner of Police Mohammad Musa Katsina, “this place is a place where many victims have visited and all of them came here but left this environment in bruises. The gentleman (Azeez Olayode) who spoke with you is the leader of this hypnotising syndicate that whenever you are brought here, they do everything to diminish your sense or any sense in you and as result they subdue you to the point of parting with anything that is valuable. He met an octogenarian who is in Ibadan and dispossessed him of the sum of 30 million naira. Somebody living in the United States of America who came to this place was also unfortunate enough to have fallen into their trap, he did not leave their trap until they defrauded him the sum of 20 million naira, they have duped many people here and today we are here and has I did tell you I have the capacity and well withal to deal with them to chase them wherever they are” he said. On behalf of the people of Oloya village, the youth leader however expressed his gratitude and appreciated the efforts of the Police to save them from this menace saying all efforts made by them have been abortive”. 70 Year Old Man Arraigned For Stealing Goat In Katsina

The police on Monday arraigned a 70-year-old man, Isa Hussaini, at the Upper Customary Court, Sabongari, Zaria, for stealing a goat. Hussaini, a resident of Funtua LGA in Katsina State is facing a one-count charge of theft. The prosecutor, Cpl. Bashir Abdullahi, told the court that the matter was reported through a distress call by the village head of Yakawada, Alhaji Rilwanu Yakawada in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He said that on June 2, Hussaini was found in possession of a goat suspected to be stolen. Abdullahi said that when the suspect was challenged, he confessed to the theft, contrary to Section 319 (a) of the penal code. The accused person pleaded guilty to the offence but the Judge, Mr Atiku Sarki-Yohanam, granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 and one reasonable surety in like sum. The judge then adjourned hearing in the case until June 11. In an interview after the hearing, the accused person confessed that he had spent 15 years in stealing business. He said “I started this ugly job 15 years ago and I started by stealing maize and later started stealing goats because I sell beef kebab. I steal to feed my two wives and six children,’’ he added. Son Accuses Mum Of Beating Father To Death In Kaduna

Kefas Luca, has accused his 40-year-old mother, Mary, of beating his father to death in Kaduna. According to Kefas, trouble started after his Dad arrived home at midnight and an argument ensued. It was gathered that his mom had warned his Dad several times against coming home late but the husband never listened. According to the deceased’s first son, Kefas, at about 3am, he heard his father screaming for help. Kefas said his mum shouted that it was armed robbers that were attacking them and told him not to enter the room. Kefas explained that the more he tried to know what was happening, the louder his mother screamed ‘thieves! thieves!’. He said, “I heard my father shouting around 3am that day (Saturday) and so I called on my mother to inquire what was happening. “My mother shouted back at me from her room to keep off and remain quiet that armed robbers were operating. The more I tried to get closer to my father’s room, the more my mother screamed thieves! thieves! thieves! “When I finally summoned up courage to enter my father’s room, I found him vomiting blood and he could no longer talk while my mother was still pretending that it was armed robbers that attacked him. “There was a heavy object by his side and he was bleeding profusely from his forehead. At daybreak, neighbours came around to help and the police outpost at Gonin Gora arrested my mother and took her to Sabon Tasha Police station.” The Police Public Relations Officer at the Command, Abubakar Zubairu, confirmed the arrest, said Mary had been detained by the command for further investigation. Evangelist Kills Herself In Asaba Because Her Husband Couldn't Satisfy Her In Bed

A 32-year-old housewife, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba Delta State, has allegedly stabbed herself to death following the failure of the husband to fulfill his conjugal responsibility at the weekend. It was reliably gathered that the woman, an evangelist with a prominent church in the area, had complained bitterly to her relations about her husband’s “weakness” during sexual intercourse, threatening that she cannot stand it anymore. But insiders said that she got married to the man, a highly placed mechanical engineer (name withheld)without premarital sex,and is said to have grumbled after the situation confronted her. Trouble started last Saturday night after the husband reportedly failed to perform again; and she allegedly took the decision to kill herself by stabbing herself in the stomach.
